The vision behind the artists it supports.

Would you mind sharing your name for the records?

Sure, My name is Charles Oyebanjo and I’m the founder and CEO of Mazza Music.

What inspired you to start Mazza Music, and what gap in the industry are you trying to fill?

I started Mazza Music because I have a deep, personal love for music, it’s something that feels like it’s part of my soul. I’ve always wanted to be close to the creative process, whether as a performer or by supporting other artists. So, the label is really about creating a space where we can nurture talent and fill a gap by giving artists a more personal, supportive home to grow.

How would you describe Mazza Music’s mission in one sentence?

In one sentence, Mazza Music’s mission is to bring out the soul in every artist’s story and share it with the world through music that truly resonates.

You’ve got a growing roster, especially with someone like Channel. What drew you to sign him, and what makes him unique?

Channel stood out because he’s incredibly versatile and can adapt across different genres. He’s not only talented but also really grounded and relatable, which makes him a great fit for us. When I heard his music, I knew he had that special something, and I wanted him on our roster to help him grow into the star he can be.

Afrobeats is going global in a big way. How do you see Mazza Music carving out its space in that worldwide movement?

We’re absolutely leaning into that global Afrobeats wave. We’re absolutely leaning into that global Afrobeats wave. Our vision is to position Mazza Music as a leading name by championing artists who bring something fresh to the genre. We’re here to make sure our artists’ music resonates not just locally but worldwide, and to be part of that global transformation of the sound.

The music landscape is changing with short-form videos and streaming algorithms. How is Mazza Music adapting to this new landscape?

We’re staying agile and embracing the changes. We want to be at the forefront of these trends, using every tool at our disposal to get our music out there in the most engaging ways. It’s about being adaptable and making sure we meet listeners where they are.

What’s your philosophy when it comes to developing an artist from scratch at Mazza Music?

My philosophy is to really understand the artist’s vision and goals first. We start with a clean slate and create a roadmap from where they are now to where they want to be, whether that’s becoming a multiplatinum artist or just finding their unique voice. We’re here to guide them through that transformation and help them become the best version of themselves.

Many labels are often just chasing numbers, but Mazza Music seems to have a more story-driven approach. Is that intentional?

Absolutely. For us, storytelling is at the heart of what we do. Every artist has a unique story, and we believe music is the best way to share it. We focus on quality and depth, making sure the music really touches people rather than just chasing numbers. It’s about creating something lasting.

What does creative freedom look like at Mazza Music? How involved are you in shaping the sound, visuals, and branding?

We start out pretty hands-on to help shape the initial vision, but as the artist grows, we give them more and more creative freedom. Our goal is to make sure they have the independence to express themselves authentically, while we’re there to support and guide them whenever they need it.

You’re not just building a label, but a brand. What sets Mazza Music apart from other labels?

What sets us apart is our family-like approach. We make sure every artist is seen, supported, and developed. Unlike major labels where some artists get sidelined, at Mazza Music everyone gets the attention they deserve. It’s that close-knit, personal touch that gives us a unique advantage.

What’s the long-term vision for Mazza Music over the next five to ten years?

Our long-term vision is to become the biggest label in Nigeria, then expand into other African markets like Ghana and South Africa. Once we’ve established a strong presence in Africa, we plan to grow our footprint in Europe as well. It’s about taking those steps to become a major influence in the global music scene, one step at a time.

Thank you, Mr. Charles Oyebanjo, for sharing your incredible journey and vision with us. Your dedication to music, from founding Mazza Music to supporting up-and-coming artists, really stands out. Fans can keep up with the label’s latest releases and projects by following on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
